Welcome to the fastest growing Northern Europe’s running event!

19th Nordea Riga marathon confirmed the fact that this is the fastest growing Northern Europe’s running event. Each year the international recognition and number of local runners is increasing and for 2009 there was record breaking number of participants – 8 592 participants were registered for 4 distances (marathon, half-marathon, marathon relay and 5K). The best result in male competition was for Oleg Gur (Byelorussia) 2 hours 18 minutes and 35 seconds. The best result in female competition was for Katsiaryna Dziamidava (Byelorussia) 2 hours 47 minutes and 30 seconds.

The best result for half-marathon for male was 1:06.49 J.Komen (Kenya) and for female was 1:23.05 Daniela Fetcere (Latvia).

Along with the winners there were more than 2200 marathon and half-marathon runners and almost 6 000 Fun run/ 5K runners from 35 countries. The numbers were doubled comparing with 2008. Thou Nordea Riga marathon has grown to the largest marathon event in the Baltic’s.
